Substitutes need to be prepared to cover your classes. Meaningful lesson plans, rosters, and the bell schedule are just a few of the items needed. Download the Substitute Folder Checklist and the Substitute Student Attendance Form to be fully prepared.
Since student achievement depends on qualified and competent teachers, being at work on time each day is of most importance.
If you know in advance that you need to take a day off work for any reason,
Submit a Statement of Leave form at least 72 hours in advance and inform the Principal and Assistant Principals.
Request a substitute in Frontline.
Ensure that you have left your Substitute Folder and undated lesson plan for the day you will be out.
If you have an emergency and are unable to come to work, (1) Immediately enter your absence in Frontline as soon as possible. (2) Notify the Principal and Assistant Principal by calling them first and then sending a text as a backup. (3) Email plans to all administrators and your Department Chair. (4) Complete and submit a Statement of Leave form to the bookkeeper.
Employee attendance on certain days, designated critical days, is crucial for effective school operation. Currently, DeKalb County School Districts states the following are designated Critical Days: pre-planning, post planning, the first five (5) days of the school year, or the last five (5) days of the school year. Further, personal/vacation leave may not be authorized for school-based employees during either the first two (2) days prior to a school holiday period, or the two (2) days following a school holiday period. Personal/vacation leave may not be authorized for school-based employees during any federal or state standardized assessments administered by the District.

Wednesdays after school are to be set aside for Faculty Meetings.
At times we may have short morning meetings.
If students are caught with a cell phone in your class, the first consequence is for you to speak with them and speak with their parents (warning/conference). Enter this in Infinite Campus. If you have an issue with the same student in the future email Mr. Grant, and we will help support Mr. Grant in the next steps.
A student can receive a plan whenever a teacher begins to see that students grades are slipping. However, students must receive one if there grade is a 75 or below.
DECA's Deficiency Plan with Remediation
A request needs to be submitted at least 7 work days in advance. The earlier you submit the form, the better the chances of the request being met. Complete the form below and email it to Mrs. Scott. Additionally, if the meeting will be held virtually the link to the meeting will need to be shared at the same time you submit the request.
Please find the C-50 form (below) that needs to be filled out, signed by Principal Conner, copies made for your own records, and then given to Mr. Delroy and emailed to: c-50mailbox@dekalbschoolsga.org
** Most important: find out of the item(s) you want to C-50 was/were purchased with Title I funds. There is usually a white sticker on the item that will tell you it's a Title I purchase. If it is a Title I item, you need to let Mrs. Thomas know you will C-50 that item because she has to remove it from DECA's Title I excel spreadsheet that's used by the district for our annual Title I audit.
If you have any questions about filling out the form, the Title I sticker, or anything else having to do with things you'd like to C-50, please come see Ms. Tigges. She can show you a completed form and walk you through the process.
